Craig Vear is a composer and musician. Since
the early '90's he has worked in electroacoustic, improvised,
contemporary, and popular music; composed for theatre and
film; and creates sound installations and sound art.
Over the winter of 2003-4 Craig spent three months in Antarctica
as composer in residence on a joint fellowship with Arts Council
England and British Antarctic Surveys Artist and Writers Programme. He was one of the founding members
of the critically acclaimed pop-group Cousteau; and recently
his composition Singing Ringing Buoy was shortlisted for the
PRS Foundation's New Music Award 2005.
Together with the composer Jonathan Eato, he formed ev2,
an improvising saxophone and percussion duo working in the
musical spaces between jazz, free improvisation, contemporary
composition, electroacoustic composition and multi media performance
environments.
