Wilderness travel and plein
air painting provide great inspiration for RoseMarie.
Frequent trips to Canada’s wilderness
areas to sketch, photograph, canoe and camp enable her to
gather reference material for studio paintings. Her excursions
to Yukon, the Northwest Territories, rafting the Nahanni and
Tatshenshini Rivers as well as two trips to the High Arctic
have given RoseMarie a unique insight into the vastness of
Canada, its biodiversity and diverse cultures which she portrays
in various media. Her rich palette and lively brush work combined
with her understanding of composition and skill in draftsmanship
allow her to portray the natural world in a truthful, dramatic
and realistic manner.
Her 2006 expedition to Canada’s High
Arctic with the Arctic Quest group of artists was no exception
yielding great inspiration and insight into the changes wrought
by global warming and the challenges facing wildlife and inhabitants
of that vast land since her previous visit in 1994.
Born and educated in Toronto RoseMarie studied
watercolour, oil painting, perspective, museum studies and
composition with Archibald (Dan) Logan, Graphic art disciplines,
colour theory, design and graphic rendering with Vince McGill
as well as layout, life studies and illustration with Fred
Savard and art history, anatomy and sculpture with William
Clements. RoseMarie also finds Canada’s architectural
heritage, usually found in rural areas, flora and fauna interesting
subject matter. Avid about drawing from life she paints portraits
and draws from the human form whenever possible.
Aside from her expressions in fine art RoseMarie
is an award winning children’s illustrator and structural
designer. She has designed retail product, animated Christmas
windows and premium incentives for numerous multi-national

and illustrates retail products, designs logos, letterheads
