About Polar Artists Group

Polar Artists Group is an International society of polar artists dedicated to promoting awareness of the polar regions.

Polar Artists Group links polar artists and scientists by conservation and promoting awareness of the polar regions, and effects of climate change on the environment and people through art, education, and special projects.

This unique collaborative relationship between artist and scientists increases the public's awareness and understanding of polar science, creates a new medium for scientific outreach, and engages artists in the early stages of research communications and outreach.

The Polar Artists Group links directly with International Polar Year research and helps meet IPY outreach and public awareness goals.

Polar Artists Group was founded in 2006 by Linda Dawn (Mackey) Lang in partnership with International Polar Year (IPY)

Artists with an interest in the polar regions are able to receive the latest information on polar science, travel, exhibitions, and educational opportunities.

The website also serves as a great reference for international media, galleries, and museums.

Polar Artists Group includes many very accomplished international artists who have either had a project endorsed by IPY, or been elected as a member based on their artwork and passion for the polar regions.

Polar Artists Group is currently planning several ambitious projects including a Passion for the Poles Conference, book publication, Teacher’s Corner, and travel opportunities.

Polar Artists Group is also involved in fund-raising and education to donate to polar based charities with similar goals.
