some of the most extreme climatic
and geological locations on Earth.
She has captured the beauty, solitude
and dramatic landscape of the
high Arctic and is one of the
only Western women to be allowed
access to historic archeological
areas. |

Meltwater, Ellesmere Island,
Nunavut, Canada - Arctic Polar
Desert
Image size 19" x 19"
(paper size 24" x 24.5")
Photographed in 1999 printed
on Fuji Crystal Archive Paper
w/LightJet Chromogenic Print.
This historic original photograph
captured the largest N. American
fresh water ice shelf before
it split in two. The ice shelf
of frozen fresh water lies
on the northern edge of Ellesmere
Island in the Canadian Arctic
and has been gradually shrinking.
Now, ten percent of its size
since it was discovered during
the search for the Northwest
Passage over 100 years ago,
the Ward Hunt Island Ice Shelf
will eventually melt into
the salt waters of the Arctic
Ocean. |
